Reasons Why You Should Unfollow Someone on Twitter

People of all walks of life are on Twitter. Each with his/her own schedule. Some usage Twitter for business purposes, a number to communicate with their friends and loved ones, and some to learn from business insiders on subjects that they find intriguing.

When you have a few tweets under your belt and adhere to a couple hundred individuals and are followed by a few hundred, the energy of Twitter starts to set in.

1. Sending you hundreds of direct messages (DMs). Often these DMs are asks asking you to "like" a site (more than likely theirs) on the Internet, etc..
   
2. Tweeting a slew of links daily. People today tend to include hyperlinks when they tweet. When done in moderation it isn't a huge deal but when they tweet over 10 or even 20 times every day with hyperlinks, it may start to get a little bothersome.
3. Cross posting tweets from other social media-related websites. It's safe to say that lots on Twitter are using third party software to tweet their content that they place on other sites for the sake of convenience. Even though it's suitable for the person tweeting, individuals that are following his/her account will probably be inundated with post after post in precisely the same source resulting in a frequent theme - aggravation.
4. Auto-posting RSS feeds of websites. Some set up their Twitter accounts in this manner that they pull on the RSS feeds from sites that they like in order to mechanically tweet the content in the feeds. This leads to is a mass flooding of tweets from the timelines of people who accompany you. Therefore, if you subscribed to the NY Times RSS feed as an example, it would result in getting at least 50 tweets be routed out from the Twitter account every single day.
5. Retweeting promotions all in uppercase. When some people today come across a great deal on Twitter, they prefer to spread the word about it to everybody in their list. Tweeting past tweets over and over.
