Learn the Three Basic Types of a New or Used Filter Press

Industries that use solid/liquid separation procedures however want to control prices may benefit from buying a used filter press or other previously owned equipment, as opposed to purchasing new. The equipment has a very simple design of a plates and horns. It employs a pressure push to procedure fixed volumes of liquid or slurry material in batches, and stops to discharge a "cake" until the second batch is started.

When looking for a used filter media, You Will Discover there are 3 main kinds:

Plate and Frame

This is the most basic design. It's also known as a "membrane filter plate" and contains frames, plates, and support railings. It also includes a centrifuge pump that keeps solids from settling into the machine and gives aid through the separating chambers from your equipment. Each room includes a hollow framework that is separated from two plates by cloth. A cake accumulates as the slurry passes through every framework. Since the cake thickens, the resistance causes the mechanism to impede. It quits when the chamber has filled, and the desired pressure difference is reached. The plate and frame are pulled apart, and the cake is discharged. After every discharge, each fabric is cleaned with a particular wash solution, and the gear is prepared to start the next cycle.

Automatic

This type is constructed from the same primary elements. However, as the name suggests, its operations are fully automated. It features larger plates and frames using mechanical plate shifters. The shifters rapidly move the plates so that the cakes can be discharged quickly. This type usually incorporates safety shutdown mechanisms. If there's not enough clamping pressure, then the system will shut down, preventing escapes between the discs. Additionally, it has a compressor in the filter plates which assists with drying out the cakes. The automated features allow the equipment to operate more effectively, reducing disposal costs and operator time and increasing the life of the cloth and pumps.

Recessed

This type contains polypropylene squares with a concave depression and centre hole. Two plates form a chamber to pressurize the slurry by means of a cloth lining into a chamber. It can hold up to 80 plates side by side, based on how much capacity is necessary. The most important difference between this type and the plate and frame type is that, with all the recessed model, the way in which the plates have been joined permits the cake to form in the recess of each plate. This attribute limits the cake dimensions to be no more than 32mm unless additional frames are used for separation. With this method, however, cloth changing takes longer, resulting in longer processing times between cycles. It also can't use filter newspapers, and may result in uneven cakes.

Which type of equipment is used is dependent upon the expected capability going through the machine, the operator expertise, budget, and basic facility preferences. When managed properly, a used filter media will last a long time and require little maintenance. Industries that need this kind of gear but are worried about prices may find buying pre-owned systems are the ideal alternative.
