Plate and Frame

Recessed

The most important difference between this type and the plate and frame type is that, with all the recessed model, the way in which the plates have been joined permits the cake to form in the recess of each plate. This attribute limits the cake dimensions to be no more than 32mm unless additional frames are used for separation. With this method, however, cloth changing takes longer, resulting in longer processing times between cycles. It also can't use filter newspapers, and may result in uneven cakes.

When managed properly, a used filter media will last a long time and require little maintenance.
